If you only watch one video on this page: WATCH THIS!

This is a two man live show in front of a live audience and features:
Doctor Doctor, The Magic Show, and The Tooth Devil.

Note:

This was only performed once and we foolishly made no plans to tape it. Fortunately, after the first 2 minute of audience mayhem, one of the owners of the school ran up to the office and raced back down with a DV tape. I do not have that tape. This means that again we have a VHS transfer. Also, since the first four minutes were missing, I used a VHS recording of a rehearsal and inserted it at the start. It's hardly perfect, as you will see, but at least the entire show can be seen.

You may notice that Hiro is not exactly a performer. Still, he does ok and Taka really is so fantastic he could have me on stage and still make a great show! Stick with it past the first four minutes and if you don't laugh your head off, well, there's something wrong with your head.

This exciting comedy contains:
Aliens, a purveyor of porn, go-go boys, a vulnerable pervert, bad acting, an ad-lib haircut, death and super school girl's climax.

Note:

This was made in my "Let's make a video" class. This was a English language class, so the main idea was to chat, and making a video gave us something fun to chat about. The entire thing, from first meeting to final shot, took less than 20 hours. This was shot with a first generation DVD camera with no firewire. We had no way of editing on a computer, so we simply hooked the camera to a VCR and recorded the best bits! Fortunately I kept the master tape so this version is a real edit (which took ages!)

This amazing video contains:
A respectful look at Tokyo's brave, hardworking and trustworthy police. Not for the faint-hearted.

Note:

This is another "Let's make a video" piece. I don't have the original tape, so this is a direct edit from the camera to VHS and then to the computer for a quick rework adding some transitions.

This video contains:
A satirical look at higher education and bureaucracy.

Note:

The girl in this video strangely agreed, at a much later date, to marry me. Her name is Shoko and you can listen to her birthday song here.

It's a VHS transfer but the tape has several short sections where sound/picture drops out. I have dealt with these the best I could. Also, there was no camera man but there was a guy standing next to the camera who sometimes did the right thing! And the sound of course is terrible, so I have again added subtitles.

As for content, this was the first thing I wrote for an actual audience. There are several things that do not work for a variety of reasons. The pace is generally too slow and sometimes the show seems ready to sit down and have a coffee break. Also, the idea of a satire on education and bureaucracy is something Japanese cannot quite figure out. Another mystery for them is the main character's desire NEVER to work. And of course it was too wordy for most of the audience.

As you can see there are a number of problems; and yet this was the first original comedy the school ever had and was the best comedy (at the time) they had ever seen. (Usually the student dramas are 2 hour Hollywood films squashed to 25 minutes! You can imagine the results.) So check it out if you have nothing else to do.
